What is a ‘zine?

In the simplest of terms, ‘zine is short for magazine. But it’s so much more than that! It is a form of resistance, and an independent way to reflect art, niche interests, personal stories and raise voices outside the normative commercial culture. Most importantly, it is a platform for marginalized voices. It has its roots in counterculture and art outside of mainstream media. All you need is a piece of paper and something to share.

Queer ‘Zine Library

“Queer Zine Library is a roaming diy library celebrating radical LGBTQIA+ self-publishing. The library collects LGBTQIA+ zines and provides access to queer communities across the UK.

The mobility of the library allows the collections to tour, grow, and change, encouraging access and engagement outside of traditional library and research settings, and putting queer history and experiences in the hands of our communities.”
